Designing Your Career is a four-week, virtual, professional success group of IU alumni and friends at all stages of career who are curious, collaborative, and ready to take action in career reinvention. Using design thinking principles and the best-selling book, Designing Your Life: How to Live a Joy Filled Life, by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans, we will creatively design the next phase in your career with thought-provoking and actionable steps.

What to Expect:

  • Weekly study guides providing a structured and actionable process to move you through reinvention
  • Weekly live discussions, facilitated by a career coach and using break-out rooms to provide smaller discussion opportunities
  • Goal sharing, progress reporting, and a chance for feedback
  • A group who are of, by, and for IU and supporting one another

Who Should Join:

This group is for participants of all ages and career levels seeking structured and collaborative learning experience and who are comfortable interacting in a web-based video conference environment.

Required Reading: Designing Your Life: How to Live a Joy Filled Life, by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans.

About the Instructor: Erin Erwin is the director of career education for the College of Arts and Sciences at IU Bloomington. She believes that the intersection of the practical and emotional elements of work is where we can find deep and lasting career satisfaction. Her coaching style is inquisitive, encouraging, and approachable. Erwin views coaching as a partnership, where the client is the expert in self, and the coach uses powerful questioning, reflection, and connections to help clients identify meaningful steps forward.
