IU School of Medicine has developed leading expertise in Alzheimer's disease, a condition that afflicts 6 million people in the U.S. The Indiana Alzheimer's Disease Research Center is an integral component in that essential work. The center works closely with key partners, including the nation's largest biorepository of Alzheimer’s tissue samples, a consortium building next-generation animal models, and another engaged in drug discovery for possible treatments.

The center also supports therapeutic trials, imaging studies, and genetic studies among Alzheimer's patients to better understand the disease and improve treatment. It also provides training opportunities for a new generation of researchers.
