Sergeant Tim Lewis was a valued employee of the Indiana University Police Department for 30 years. He attended IU and was a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

The Tim Lewis Memorial Fund, established by his family upon his death in 2004, is a continuation of Lewis’ support of the community and the IU Police Academy. Gifts to this fund provide support for students accepted to the IU Police Academy Program, which can include financial assistance, as well as equipment and other expenses related to training needs.

Tim Lewis taught the IU Police Academy’s Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, yet his service to the IU and Bloomington communities went beyond his official duties as an officer and trainer. He was also a coordinator of Operation Pullover for Monroe County, a board member for the local council of the Commission for a Drug-Free Indiana, and a security officer for Bloomington High School South.
