Celebrate community and connection

Jazz Brunch is the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club’s signature summer event. Live music, good food, and a fresh theme set the stage for this annual gathering of IU alumni and friends.

The event coincides with the weeklong Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration. Past attendees return year after year for the opportunity to celebrate our community, nurture connections, and harness our collective power to make a difference.

Recognizing excellence and impact

At the heart of the celebration is the “Diamond of the Season” Spotlight, recognizing recipients of the Rising Star Award and Alumni Achievement Award. These distinguished honorees shape and inspire the Indiana University community with their talent, leadership, and lasting contributions. 

Recent alumni honorees include:

  • Alan Bacon, BA’03, founder and chief strategist at GANGGANG
  • Doneisha Posey, JD’14, civil rights attorney and speaker
  • Dorothy Judith Berry, MA’16, MLS’16, digital curator at Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture

Recognizing rising stars

The Rising Star Award honors emerging professionals for their early career accomplishments and contributions to the community.

Honoring distinguished alumni

The Alumni Achievement Award recognizes alumni with a distinguished career history, leadership contributions, and community impact.
