[J T. Forbes:] When you think about all the things that are named at Indiana University, what you really see is a rich narrative, because behind every name is a powerful story.
[Curt Simic:] It shows in facilities. It shows an enablement of students and faculty. It creates the opportunity for them to have the best there is. And so that impact gives us IU writ large.
[J T. Forbes:] Those names are part of a grand story.

The first gift to Indiana University was a box of rocks. It was a mineral collection given to us from a farmer to teach science courses.
[Leslie Kaiser:] Time, talent, treasure, and testimony are the ways that individuals can give back.
[Joyce Rogers:] It doesn't matter what it is. You know it's going to have some type of impact.
[Craig Brater:] There are two kinds of gifts that people give. Gifts of duty, and then there are also gifts of passion.
[A-Lan Reynolds:] It's the passions that make life worth living. [Jay Jorgensen:] Motivation comes from things that you really believe in.
[Gene Tempel:] Think about the values that you have. How would you like to leave those values as important to the next generation?
[Cynthia Simon Skjodt:] We're going to have to figure out a way to keep the ball moving.

[Leslie Kaiser:] The importance of philanthropy at IU can be seen as you walk across any campus. Every, you know, student can feel the impact of philanthropy in everyday.
[Grace Sims:] It's been game-changing to know that philanthropy, or just simply investing in the lives of students, can take so many shapes and forms.
[A-Lan Reynolds:] The students that we've supported and who've written us letters, those letters are like gold for us.
They are our future, and so philanthropy allows us to invest in their careers.
[Rick Van Kooten:] It's something where the donor can say, "I've made an impact."
[Curt Simic:] Impact.
[J T. Forbes:] Impact.
[Craig Brater:] By having an impact, you're affecting that individual for the future.
[Grace Sims:] Having that opportunity has made me think about the different ways I want to be involved.
[A-Lan Reynolds:] I just wanted to give them a little chance. A little chance.
Four. Three.
If we get the right people involved, we can change the world.
[Grace Sims:] It expanded my mindset. It expanded my world.
[Joyce Rogers:] Indiana University is what it is because of philanthropy, and I've been a beneficiary myself.
[Cynthia Simon Skjodt:] It's my alma mater. My kids all went there.
[Jane Jorgensen:] It offers you so many opportunities to reinvent yourself or to reaffirm who you are.
[J T. Forbes:] I have a quarter-century love affair with this place.
[Scott Dolson:] These people really are making a difference.
[Cynthia Simon Skjodt:] And I love that more than anything, surprising people.
[A-Lan Reynolds:] It's what makes our little blink of time on Earth so rich and worth living.
